From the Principal
It's an honour to join Endeavour College, and I'm grateful to the Lord for placing me here. Thank you for welcoming my family and I into this warm, friendly and proud community.
I want to acknowledge the past Principals who contributed to the College's success, and
Mr Pearse and his team for their hard and unwavering work.
As a teacher for over 20 years, I've learned from many fantastic educators and am excited to lead Endeavour College.
I was born in Northern Ireland but fulfilled my entire schooling here in South Australia, commencing my teaching career in Adelaide in 2000 in a co-educational boarding school. I have enjoyed a wonderful professional journey within education, serving communities within the independent school system in Albany, Western Australia, and South East Melbourne before spending the last 3 years in Lutheran Education at Good News Lutheran College, Victoria.
I move home to Adelaide with my wife Katrina, sons Tyrhys (22), Bostyn (18) and our daughter Mayple (7). Mayple attends one of our Connected Schools and we are all very happy to be reunited with our family. Our Connected Schools system is unique and wonderful, and I am very happy to join this vibrant community and lead Endeavour College.
My goal is to provide opportunities for students and staff to pursue their passions and dreams to change the world. Every graduate has a story to tell, and for current students, their journey is just beginning. Life is full of opportunities, and hard work opens many doors.
Jeremiah 29:11 says 'For I know the plans I have for you,' declares the Lord, 'plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future. '
We all have a date of birth and a date with our time of passing, but it's the dash in the middle that counts. We must create our lives and make a difference by treating others the way we want to be treated. Don't compare yourself to others because success looks different for everyone. Instead, focus on making your own choices and be proud of your achievements.
I want our students to be great people who bring hope to our society, and everyone in this community to be positive role models who know right from wrong and stand up for what's right.
I am honored to serve and lead with two ears and one mouth, using them proportionally. I will serve the community with love, courage, forgiveness, hope and integrity, always putting the needs of the students first.
Richard Baird
Principal
Installation Service
Endeavour College officially installed
Mr Richard Baird as our new Principal in a ceremony late last week, attended by students, staff and dignitaries. The installation service was led by our 2023 College Captains Jesse and Fatima, with Bishop David Altus, Lutheran Church (SA), and Craig Fielke, Executive Director of Lutheran Education (SA, NT, WA), conducting the Rite of Installation.
Mr Baird noted it's a huge honour to be appointed Principal of Endeavour College and highlighted the journey and significant individuals that have led him to take up this call to serve. He is excited to work and lead a College that believes in the whole student.
As a community, we look forward to sharing this journey with Richard, and wish him all the very best leading Endeavour and its citizens into the future.
