UCAT Update

Bookings for sitting the UCAT close on 17 May 2023 for those intending to apply to Medicine, Dentistry or Oral health at South Australian and interstate universities. Those intending to apply interstate should carefully study the admission expectations for each university as additional requirements such as predicted ATARS and written statements may be required. Preparation material for the UCAT, along with practice tests are available on the UCAT website.

University Updates

Adelaide University’s FirstGEN is a free program that offers free support and interactive information sessions to ‘first in family’ Year 12 students. This is aimed at broadening students’ awareness, understanding and confidence as they approach the next step of their education journey. Students and families interested in the program can access further details here.

Flinders University are looking forward to opening their brand new, state of the art city campus next year in the Festival Plaza located right by the Adelaide Train Station. This should make Flinders a much more accessible option for our students.

Detail on courses that will be offered at the city campus are available here.

For Year 12 students, selection into university courses is generally based on achieving a competitive selection rank (ATAR + adjustment factors) and meeting a prerequisite or other essential admission requirements.

The University of South Australia also offer guaranteed entry based on the 3 best Year 12 grades. This is conditional on achieving an ATAR of 50 and meeting all other prerequisites and entry requirements. You can find out more information about subject grade entry via this link.

Next term Endeavour College will be holding our annual Transition Breakfast with old scholars and university personnel in attendance to share information on the varying pathways such as university entry and other post school options.

Our regular Career Expo will be held on Tuesday 15th August from 6-8pm.

Work Experience Update:

Year 10s

I was excited to visit and connect with some of our Year 10 students who organised and completed their PLP Work Placements during the recent school holidays.

Many other students have submitted their compulsory Work Experience Agreement Form in readiness for their placements in Week 10 this term (3-7th July). Our expectation is that all forms for Work Experience will be returned to PLP teachers by Friday 2 June. Students who have any questions regarding the requirements should discuss this with their PLP teacher or contact Mrs Fitridge for further clarification and support.

Career Creation Morning:

Year 10s

We are excited to be holding our first Career Morning with the Year 10 students on Friday June 30 here at the College. We have invited Universities, TAFE and other education and training providers to the College to share the possibilities for further training and careers with the students. The timing of this new event is carefully considered factoring in the move into Term 3 and commence the Subject Selection Process with families. Further details of this exciting event will be published later this term.

One intention of this morning is to share firsthand career journeys with our students. We are keen to hear from members of our community with interesting and unique career experiences who would be willing to be part of our ‘Q and A Panel’ on the day.

We would need you at the College from

9.30am -10.30am on the day and would love you to stay a little longer for morning tea and more casual interaction with students if this suits you.

If this sounds like something you would be interested in helping us with I would love to hear from you. I am happy to answer any further questions you may have either by contacting me by phone or email at the College.
