Many activities to enjoy at Boorowa Central School

The past fortnight has been another typically busy week at Boorowa Central School. Students have been representing the school on a variety of curriculum and sporting excursions. Year 11 students travelled to Wooglemai to conduct scientific studies of animal habitats, primary students travelled to Canowindra for Cross Country and Boorowa Central hosted the Southern Central School touch football gala day. We also had Infant students engaged in National Simultaneous Story Time and Primary students taking part in the Boorowa Central School Rostrum public speaking finals. Next week, Year 6 students will enjoy their first High School Preparation day on Tuesday and all of secondary are travelling by coach to the Stand Tall event at the International Convention Centre at Darling Harbour.

Compass Parent Portal

As I mentioned in the previous edition of the Newsletter, the Compass Parent portal was launched two weeks ago for parents of Year 12 students. These parents had access to Compass to book an interview with their child’s teacher for the Year 12 Parent/Teacher evening on Tuesday night.  The portal also provided access to their child’s Semester 1 report.

Over the next fortnight, the parent portal will continue to be rolled out to the rest of our school community. The parent portal can be easily accessed as an app on any smart device.

Instructions on how to download the Compass app and personal access details will be sent home with students from Tuesday 13 June 2023.

The Compass Parent Portal will provide access to the following functions:

  • Download and view your child's school reports
  • Provide explanations for school absence or late arrivals.
  • Monitoring your child's attendance
  • View 'My News', a news feed of school announcements, alerts and updates.
  • View your child's timetable
  • View the school calendar
  • Monitor assessment tasks (secondary) and homework
  • Communicate with your child's teachers
  • Book parent/teacher interviews
  • Update family contact details
  • Pay and provide consent for events, excursions and school fees*
  • Make Canteen orders*
  • Order Photos*

Note: Functions denoted with a * will be introduced incrementally in the year ahead as the school develops the systems to support them.

Half-Yearly Student Reports in 2023

As mentioned in the information above, Student Reports will be available to download and view via the Compass Parent Portal. This is now the mode of delivery for Secondary Student Reports. No hard copies will be sent home for secondary students.

Infants and Primary students will continue to receive hard copy reports this semester with the view to change to digital distribution by the end of the year.
