Secondary

Year 9 mathematics

This term has seen Stage 5 students exploring the wonders of geometry during their mathematics lessons. After completing a topic on volume, Year 9 students were introduced to the special properties of right-angled triangles in their introduction to trigonometry.

This week students completed a discovery task on Pythagoras’ Theorem where they had to manipulate the areas of squares to find the relationships of a triangle’s sides. Students were able to see the relationship between the short sides of a triangle and its hypotenuse. They then displayed their findings on some beautiful posters which are on display in the classroom for everyone to see. Great work Year 9.
