Sports Update

Cross Country

Despite the freezing day with icy winds we were fortunate that the sun was shining so that we could hold our annual Cross Country Carnival. Congratulations to everyone who made their way out to the Glen Innes Golf Course to brave these weather conditions to be part of this great day.

A massive thank you goes out to many people and organisations who helped make this day happen. To Damien and Brodie from the Glen Innes Golf Club, we thank you for the use of this amazing facility. The grounds lend itself to an outstanding, true cross country course, and to have access to the club house and the golf buggies made our day run smoothly. The Lion’s Van continued to serve the hot food we desperately craved in the cold weather and Betty’s Brew was greatly appreciated for our morning caffeine hit.

An event like this can only happen thanks to our amazing volunteers. Cheryl Muldoon, Casey Chard, Sal Floyd, Kylie Neville, Tara Looker, Sue-Ellen Cooper, Tahleia Gerlofsma, Joanne Wright, Tash Templeton, John Templeton, Kylie Falconer, Shanelle Gunther, Adriana Pietsch, Alise McBain, Brigitte Brummell, Nicole Watson, Donna McAllister, Sophie Cooper, Krystle Nugent and Mark Barratt.

I would like to extend an extra big thank you to Mark Tarrant, Casey Chard, Mark Barratt, Geoff McManus, John Cameron, Sharon Jarvis and Karen Fletcher who spent many additional hours on the weekend and early Monday morning helping me prepare for the day. I could NOT have done this without you. THANK YOU! To the staff at St Joseph’s who always go above and beyond to support our school events in so many ways - you are greatly appreciated.

Now, to the students who tested their endurance and mental toughness, congratulations on your outstanding efforts in your races. We are extremely proud of the sportsmanship and enthusiasm you displayed on the day.
