A Message from David...

It was wonderful seeing everyone fresh, rested and smiling as they arrived back to school on Monday. I loved walking to the classrooms and being warmly greeted by all of the students and hearing tales of their holidays. I hope you all enjoyed the holiday break and that all the students enjoyed their time away from school having fun with family and friends. We have had a really positive start to Term 2 and are looking forward to a very busy and exciting term ahead.

Colour Explosion

What an AMAZING event! The Colour Explosion has solidified itself as one of the most fun events on the AGPS calendar. Seeing all of the students running through the obstacle course, being chased by water cannons and being blasted with colour was such a joy.

This event was made possible by the hard work of many dedicated parents. I would like to acknowledge Victoria, Haley, Jo and Trent for their efforts throughout the whole process and to all the other people who helped out leading up to the event and on the day itself. There was a significant amount of work behind the scenes but seeing all the smiles certainly made it all worth it!

I'd also like to thank and congratulate the whole school community for their tremendous support of this event. We greatly exceeded our fundraising target and are currently finalising everything to work out the final amount raised. Thank you all for donating, sharing the donations page and supporting our school. It is greatly appreciated!

Staffing Update

Late last term we farewelled Bianca who has begun her family leave. We wish her all the best for this very exciting time and cannot wait to see her new bub as soon as we are able. We are very pleased to announce that we have recruited Josh Hahnel to fill Bianca's role. Josh has really enjoyed meeting all the students in 4/5B and across the school (and the students have loved meeting him and wondering if he is the new tallest teacher in the school!) and is a wonderful addition to the AGPS team - Welcome, Josh!

I know many of the students are really excited to get back into the kitchen and I am very pleased to announce that they will be able to in a couple of weeks! Stella Vassiliou has joined our team as our new Kitchen Specialist and she comes with a wealth of knowledge about the SAKG program. She began this week and spent time meeting the students, working with Trish and getting stuck into cleaning and organising the kitchen - Welcome, Stella!

School Photos

Due to parent feedback about the 2020 school photographs we have changed to a new photography company, Leading Image. Leading Image was highly recommended by members of our community and we are looking forward to having the photos taken on the 28th of April. Please see Compass note for details about ordering.

Have a wonderful ANZAC day and weekend, everyone. I hope you are all able to take the time to commemorate the women and men who have served in wars, conflicts, and peacekeeping operations.

Take care,

David
