Faith and Mission

This has certainly been a BIG term for Faith and Formation!!

A BIG THANK YOU to those parents who volunteered to cook pancakes on Shrove Tuesday for our students.  We were able to cook and distribute ahead of schedule.  Thank you all for the efforts!!

A Big THANK YOU to all families who were able to provide donations for Jesuit Social Services - Ignite food store.  This went hand in hand with celebrating Harmony Week between March 21 - 25 and in particular, our Casual Clothes Day on March 25.

Claire Thomas from Jesuit Social Services has asked me to pass on her thanks and appreciation for the wonderful and much needed supplies for the Ignite Food Store.  They have had volunteer students from other Diocesan schools restock the shelves.  The donations from St Luke’s has made a huge difference to the store and also the people in the community who benefit from them.  Thank you

A BIG THANK YOU to all families who donated to Caritas - Project Compassion.  We have been able to raise $.  for Caritas who will use these funds to help people throughout the world.  You are still able to donate using the QKR App, I include the visual here for any last minute donations.  Again Thank you.

We will continue to support these different formation experiences in the coming years.

Good Friday Night Walk

This Good Friday April 15, 2022 St Luke’s Catholic College will participate in the Good Friday Night Walk for the first time.  Year 10 and 11 students have been invited to attend this event organised by Catholic Youth Parramatta (CYP).

The overnight pilgrimage of young Catholics (aged 14-35) starts at St Patrick’s Church, Blacktown and ends at St Patrick’s Cathedral, Parramatta, passing through four additional churches along the route for prayer and reflection. The initiative has been supported by our partners and collaborators for over 10 years involving our parishes, youth leaders, multiple Councils, Local Area Police Commands and the Blacktown Division of St John’s Ambulance alongside the Diocese of Parramatta, Catholic Education Diocese of Parramatta and our private security team. Each year, the pilgrimage promotes a renewed source of faith, hope, and unity through the spiritual journey and lens of Holy Week. The 18km route begins at Blacktown Parish, and passes through Seven Hills Parish, Toongabbie Parish, Wentworthville Parish, Harris Park Parish and ends at the Cathedral in Parramatta.

We wish those students and teachers participating in this event a rich and rewarding pilgrimage and a well earned rest at the end!!

Looking forward to Term 2

Crochet/Knit for Jesuit Refugee Services

After the last 2 years of COVID issues we look forward to again participating in making blankets for Jesuit Refugee Services.  We have approximately 10 blankets to donate now and will be calling for all crafters to knit and crochet squares to then create blankets for Refugees in our local community.  When we are ready to start we will inform our school community.
