Living at Lockington

Before heading home early for holidays the MITS Class of 2020 enjoyed several exciting weekends in Melbourne and formed really strong friendships and relationships with the staff and each other.

The mid-term reward trip was Laser Tag and arcade games in Box Hill. This was a huge hit and also involved the girls from the Alumni Boarding House.

Footy Training with Richmond Junior Football club was a highlight with all students participating in the initial training sessions on a Sunday afternoon. These sessions often led into friendly matches with the Alumni girls and a picnic dinner in the park.

Around eight students were able to get their first live AFL fix with a visit on the tram to Marvel Stadium to watch the Bushfire Relief Match with Victoria defeating the All Stars.

During the long weekend in Melbourne, some students spent time away from Lockington with family and friends. Those who stayed enjoyed some nature adventures, Moomba and a trip to the movies to watch “Sonic the Hedgehog.”

After school there were many activities including homework at St. Kevin’s, basketball, football and watching Netflix and Stan together. Shopping was also very popular with “Culture Kings” a favourite.

We hope that all students continue to stay connected with each other while at home with social media and the class “What’s App” group. Boarding staff will assist the teachers in encouraging the students to learn remotely and check in with the students.

We hope you all stay safe at home and look forward to seeing everyone back in Melbourne soon!
