Boxing at MAYSAR

The Melbourne Aboriginal Youth Sport and Recreation centre (MAYSAR) run weekly boxing sessions for youth in their Fitzroy gym. Some of our Almuni girls were excited to start attending these sessions – they are great for our girls to learn boxing and keep fit, but also a chance for the girls to learn more about the Aboriginal Community in Melbourne.  At first the girls were nervous, but soon got the hang of it and loved learning the skills for boxing. We look forward to continuing the sessions at MAYSAR.

Kingswood Camp

Our year 8 Kingswood girls attended their first Kingswood school camp. The girls enjoyed themselves and made lots of new friends on the camp. We currently have 12 MITS Alumni attending Kingswood College, which is fantastic as they have each other for support during their journey.

COVID-19

The end of Term 1 was an unusual one, with all students returning home early due to the Coronavirus pandemic.  The good news is everyone is now home safe and healthy with families.

In Term 2, most schools will stay closed in Melbourne, and learning will be on-line or through hard copy learning packages that schools will send to students. The Pathways Team will be in regular contact with students and families so that they continue to feel connected to MITS and their learning in Melbourne. We will also be supporting Partner Schools to deliver learning, and make sure they are adapting expectations so that the tasks are achievable for the students.
