WHAT CAREER IS THAT?

PATHWAYS TO UNI 2022

There are many different ways to get to the same destination, and that applies to university too. Sometimes students do not quite meet the entry criteria to go straight into a university course – maybe their ATAR was not high enough, or they did not attain the minimum study score in a prerequisite subject. The encouraging thing is that many universities have recommended pathway courses to degrees they offer. Below are many of these pathway schemes:

NEXUS - A revolutionary new path into secondary teaching

Introducing the Nexus Program: providing a first of its kind pathway into secondary teaching. As a Nexus student, you’ll be supported by the Federal Government’s High Achieving Teachers Program. This means you’ll receive a small part-time salary while studying as well as access to mentoring and professional development. After the first 12 months of study you will be eligible for Permission to Teach and full-time employment as a paraprofessional in a school while finishing your studies. For more information visit here.

What are the benefits of Nexus?

Nexus aims to recruit, prepare, graduate and assist in the employment of teachers in low socioeconomic schools in urban, regional and rural Victoria. Current Year 12 students considering a career in secondary education are highly recommended to learn more about this excellent opportunity - La Trobe Nexus Program.
