Year 7-8 Girls Touch Football

On Friday 17th November, the KCC Year 7/8 Touch Football team competed in the All Schools competition. Having won the Riverina zone a few months ago, the KCC team were up against the best 18 school teams in NSW. The schools were divided into four pools, with KCC in a strong pool of five teams. KCC defeated Model Farms High School (from the Baulkum Hills district of Sydney) easily, 7 – 0. The team then defeated Ulladulla High School , 5-1. In game three we were surprised by a strong St Joseph’s Catholic College (Gosford) outfit that got the jump on us with three quick tries. After a strong fightback we lost that game 4-2. We needed to win the last pool game to be the top of the pool but drew with Tweed River High School, 2-2. These results meant that we came second in our pool and placed us in the quarter finals against a strong Callaghan College (Wallsend, Newcastle). The quarter final game was very evenly matched, however, the Callaghan side came away with the win, 3-1.
All girls played well and the team was lead strongly by our Captain, Maddie Browning and Vice-Captain, Grace Kelly.
Congratulations to all the players, and a special thanks to Mr Ward (our bus driver), Mr Mack (who gave great assistance during training) and to the parents who assisted on the day.
