Cultural Diversity Week 2017

Cultural Diversity Week 2017

At Staughton, we value inclusiveness and celebrate our diversity in many different ways.  A lot of planning goes into our events, and unbeknownst to most, our students actually had a professional shoot the week prior.  We were featured on the cover of the Melton & Morrabool Star Weekly paper for our CDW 2017.

Last week, we had our Cultural Diversity Week.

Thanks to DJ Will Cachia, the Radio Crew, and Cultural Captain Halina Tavita-Alama, we had an amazing playlist for World Music on Monday.

Everyone had fun with the cultural performances on Tuesday.  We would also like to thank Ms. Abby Grace and Ms. Farrugia who organized their Year 9 Music and Theatre classes to perform Moana inspired dances and songs.

Wednesday was French Day.  The French teacher, Ms. Favero, said, “French Day was a great success. Year 9 SEAL students had a fantastic time cooking and selling crêpes and there was a great turnout to the movie played at lunch time.”

On Thursday, we had our biggest Cultural Fashion Parade to date.  Villani and Delsey Hiram also performed a Nauruan dance for us, and Sharie May Castillo and Shayan Syed sang “Empire State of Mind” and “Be Alright”.  Staff and students alike enjoyed the gelato truck as well.

Friday was our annual Tastes of the World lunch, and we had a mix of Italian and Asian food for only $5.

If you missed it, you needn’t worry.  The Cultural Family Picnic happens in Term 4, and is open to staff, family, and friends of Staughton College.   More information will be sent out  later in the year.
