Harmony Day
'We R One'
What a day it was! So many people enjoying a great day. After many weeks of planning guided by Nej Akdere and Danny Lythgo, I was able to plan my VCAL project where many ideas were put in place to help us celebrate the day.
At the end of Period 3 all the students and teachers moved out on to the oval where we had used line marking paints to paint out the sign “Harmony We R One “ As the students came out they were ushered on to the sign and given orange paper.
On a given signal the students were asked to put the orange paper over their head to change the aerial view. It looked awesome as you can see from the photo above. I used my phone attached to a drone that I controlled to take videos and photos.
It was great to see parents coming to watch the multicultural performances. Many student groups performed for the entire lunch time.
Special thanks to Ree Peric and the team for organising the performances. All groups were outstanding and very well performed. I would like to congratulate everyone for their involvement to make our day so special.
In particular we would like to thank the SELC (Shepparton English Language Centre) for making the effort to bring approximately seventy students to watch. Some of the VCAL students also helped cook a free sausage sizzle for the entire school.
Our BBQ was a busy place to be around at lunch time with 500 sausages given away to appreciative students!
Lastly, I would like to thank Ms Cole for approving the out of uniform day to help us celebrate Harmony Day 2019.
