Students Arriving Late         and Absences

In accordance with DET policy, we are required to record when students are at school and when they are absent.  Please see the following information to help us ensure this is accurate.

Late Arrivals

Students arriving late to school need to sign in at the General Office, and are required to record a reason for their late arrival.

Early Departures

If your student needs to leave school early for any reason, including appointments, they are required to have a parent/carer’s permission.  This can be in the form of:-

  • Ringing the General Office on 5338 9000 to advise of the departure;
  • Entering approximate departure times directly into Compass; or
  • Sending a signed written note with your student.

Your student will also need to sign out at the General Office to allow for accurate time recording in Compass.  If they are returning after an appointment, they will be required to sign back in upon arrival.

Please Note …………

  • Absence text messages are automatically sent at 10am each day. If a student is arriving after 10am, you will still receive a text notifying you of your student’s absence, as Compass will be updated once your student has arrived at school and signed in.
  • We are not permitted to allow a student to leave school without a parent/carer’s permission. If office staff have not received permission for a student to leave, we are required to ring in order to gain this permission, which may result in a delay of your student being permitted to sign out and leave.
  • Students who are unwell should report to the Sick Bay, and not contact their parents/carers directly. If they are required to be sent home due to illness, our School Nurse Robyn will contact a parent/carer directly and update Compass records accordingly.

Full Day absences

When students are absent for a full day/days this can be advised to us by:-

  • Ringing the Student Attendance line on 5338 9008; or
  • Entering the absence directly into Compass.

If you require any further information regarding this, please do not hesitate to contact our General Office on 5338 9000.
