Visual Arts

Our new refurbished spaces are now up and running, and our senior Visual Arts students are making the most of these new and updated facilities. Rolls of film have been processed in our new darkroom and senior students are enjoying our multi-purpose studio and gallery space which has enabled them to work on their folios in their spare periods. Our photography studio has new lighting and will soon be fully operational.

In Art, Year 7s and 8s have been learning all about portraiture. This involved students producing their own portraits as well as researching and analysing portraits of their choice from the Gallery of New South Wales’ Archibald Prize. A primary focus of this unit in portraiture is students building their confidence in their drawing skills while exploring new materials. Well done to junior students for showing a growth mindset during these projects.

Art Club is now currently running on Thursdays at lunch time in Room 75, led by our Art Captains. Art Club is open to all students and they can bring their own independent work or participate in group projects if interested. Art Club is a great place for students to meet other like-minded people across different year levels and share their art-making in a social setting.
