A message from our St Gabriel's Principal
Dear Families,
A very warm welcome to Term 2!
We are grateful for the beautiful weather this week which has kept us all in good spirits as we have settled back into school. We are looking forward to a term filled with rich learning experiences and fun.
A gentle reminder Curriculum Overviews will be sent out via See Saw this week. We encourage families to read these overviews as they will help you to stay across all the learning that has been planned for your child this term. I would also like to remind you that in the Literacy and Mathematics section of each newsletter you will find some learning activities that you could do with your child at home.
Early this May, our entire staff will be participating in our annual First Aid training. As you know, we refresh this certification every year to ensure our skills and qualifications remain fully up to date. This consistent practice ensures we are always prepared to provide the best possible care and safely manage any accidents or injuries that may occur at school.
We have many special events this term and we look forward to celebrating our mothers and the very special women that play such an important role in the children’s lives and our school community.
St Gabriel’s will be completing our Melbourne Archdiocese School Improvement Review this year. This review takes place every 4 years and provides a rich opportunity for the school community to reflect on St Gabriel’s growth and improvement over the past 4 years. This reflective process leads into goal setting for the next 4 years. We will keep you updated on this process and we look forward to sharing updates and information with you along this journey.

Laura, our Faith Leader and myself met with Father Pritchard and the leaders from St Joseph the Worker earlier this week to prepare for the term. It is a very special term for our year 3 and year 6 children as they prepare for the Sacrament of First Reconciliation and Confirmation. We look forward to celebrating these special faith events with your child.
Safe Drop off and pick up of Children
The safety of all children and families is our absolute priority. We continue to see some families making unsafe choices and not following road and traffic safety during drop off and pick up. We appreciate that there may be time pressure, however, it is not worth an injury to a child or another member of our community. We ask all parents to prioritise the safety of all during drop off and pick up times.
Here are some important reminders:
The educators are at the gates to ensure that all children leave the school safely with the right parents and family members. We look forward to seeing an immediate improvement in safe behaviours at drop off and pick up.
