This term, our Year 3 students are engaging in a text study of ‘Off We Go Around Australia’ by Roland Harvey. Through this rich and engaging text, students are exploring Australia’s diverse landscapes, places and experiences while developing their reading comprehension skills. They are building their ability to ask questions, make connections, and discuss the author’s and illustrator’s choices, particularly how detailed illustrations add meaning and humour to the text. Alongside this, there is a strong focus on vocabulary, spelling and grammar, with students learning how to expand sentences, use conjunctions, and apply these skills in their writing. Students are also applying their learning by planning and writing explanation texts, strengthening their understanding of text structure and language features.
