Junior Sports Day

What a great day of jam packed games and challenges for our junior athletes. It was incredible to see our athletes getting stuck into their challenges and demonstrating the Tally Way with each challenge. Thank you to all the parents that attended and added to the atmosphere encouraging and cheering on our students.

Senior District Trials

The weather curse continued for our senior athletes and we were forced to move to trials for our 10-12 year old students so they could trial for the Oceanic Carnival. The students did an amazing job putting their best foot forward in all the events on offer. Over the week we saw some amazing feats of determination, resilience and skill as the students competed in the trials. The teams have been finalised and selected students will be given their trial information this week. The Oceanic Carnival will be held on Monday 10 and Tuesday 11 August at Runaway Bay Sports Centre.

Queensland Allschools Oztag Carnival

Over the weekend we took 4 teams from Tallebudgera State School to compete at the Queensland Allschools Oztag Carnival. Coaches Mr King, Mrs Slattery, Mr Ireland and myself travelled to the Sunshine Coast for 3 days of Ozatg fun and competition. Our Tallebudgera Students were outstanding all weekend demonstrating the Tally Way in every aspect of the carnival with all teams putting in some amazing performances on the field.

A special mention to our year 5 girls and coach Mr Ireland who not only put in some good performances but went all the way to win the grand final in extra time! It was a nerve-racking game but our students dug deep with some amazing resilience and determination. After winning the grand final, our very own Amaya was crowned MVP for the entire carnival, which is an amazing achievement! A huge thank you to our coaches and parents who helped to make the weekend and carnival a great one for our students. Well done Team Tally!

Year 5 - 6 Interschool Sporting Gala Day 2

On Tuesday our Year 5 and 6 students travelled to their venues for round 2 of our interschool sporting Gala Day competition. Our students must be complimented on the sportsmanship and teamwork shown to each other and the other teams. Thank you to the coaches for attending on the day and for your work in getting the students prepared for the competition. Our students have one more day remaining in the competition which will take place in Week 8.

Year 3 - 4 Intraschool Sporting Gala Day

This year our year 3 - 4 students will be competing in our intraschool sporting Gala Day in week 9 of this term. The students will spend a day competing against other students. The main goal of our Gala Day is to provide our students opportunities to be involved in some team-based games with an introduction to competition.

Tallebudgera Sporting Academies

This term we will be continuing our sporting academies Touch and Rugby League for our Tallebudgera SS students in year 3 - 6. The reason behind the academies is to allow our students the opportunity to be extended even further into development and competition within a sport. Students will be working on the physical element of the sport but also strategy, emotional resilience, teamwork, communication, leadership development along with opportunities to compete at a higher level against our local schools. Please keep an eye on ClassDojo for more information on how to register your child’s interest.

Touch Football Academy (Year 3 - 6)

Students will train one day a week before school to develop their skills. There will also be trials during Term 3 to select teams to compete at the QLD Allschools touch comp in Term 4.

Four teams will be selected -

Year 3 - 4 - one boy and one girl junior team

Year 5 - 6 - one boy and one girl senior team

Our touch football talent has grown in the last two years, and we are excited to be selecting some strong teams to compete at the upcoming carnival early next term.

Rugby League Academy (Year 3 - 6)

Students will train on Thursday mornings starting in week 4. Students will focus on developing skills along with building knowledge in strategy, critical thinking and building emotional and mental resilience through training.

Running Club

Running Club is back on for another year for our year 1 - 6 students. Training is for students who want to improve and develop their running. Starting week 5, we meet at the hall every Friday at 8:00am and train until 8:30am. We work on distance running, sprint training and overall fitness development. If your child would like to join, please follow the links on the ClassDojo post to register.
