News and Notices

Welcome to Term 3!
This term, we continue our high expectations of student effort, achievement and behaviour. Parents and carers can assist by reinforcing this at home during conversations with their children. I ask that the emphasis please be on children consistently applying their best effort and working towards their learning goals.
NAIDOC Performance
A big thank you to our special Boori (Monty) Pryor for sharing such a special NAIDOC performance for all of our students in NAIDOC week. Boori is an indigenous author and storyteller and his performance was punctuated with music, dance and language. Boori entertained our students whilst educating them to better understand both the past and present culture of First Nations People.
Yr 3 Jellurgal Cultural Centre Excursion
Prep Excursion
Our Prep children had a wonderful time at their first school excursion this week. They visited the Currumbin Outdoor Environmental Centre and enjoyed a range of fabulous learning experiences, investigating, exploring and playing.
Awards Ceremony
This week, we held our awards ceremony for Semester 1 student recognition for outstanding levels of effort and achievement for students from Year 3 - 6. Congratulations to all students who received an award and thank you to the family and friends who joined us to celebrate these accomplishments.
Thank you to James Hill, P&C President, for attending as a special guest and helping to congratulate award recipients.
Parent Teacher Progress Interviews
Information regarding the online booking system for progress interviews has been emailed to parents and carers. Interviews will occur in year level hubs over two evenings and a map showing the location of these hubs has been posted on Class Dojo.
The progress interviews are an important part of our partnership with families, allowing teachers to provide an update about children's learning and next steps for improvement.
FUNraiser - Weekend Wear Day
Tomorrow is Weekend Wear Day. This event is for the enjoyment and wellbeing of our students (and staff) and we refer to it as a FUNraiser. Details have been communicated to parents and carers on ClassDojo.

The Dental Van is currently onsite at our campus. Details about how to book have been provided to parents and carers via ClassDojo.
Book Character Costume Day Reminder
Book Character Costume Day is scheduled for Tuesday 18 August. Children are encouraged to dress in costume as their favourite book character and are asked to bring the book with them on the day (if they have it). Costumes need to be sun safe like the school uniform (e.g. no midriff shirts) and closed in shoes are required.
Run 4 Fun Colour Explosion
We are very excited about holding a Run 4 Fun Colour Explosion late this term (8 September) and ask families to keep their eyes out for information being sent home with students in the coming weeks.
Sports Day
Take 2 of our senior and junior sports days was a fantastic day filled with energy, enthusiasm and outstanding sportsmanship. Students gave their best in every event we could run in the wet conditions, demonstrating determination, resilience and encouragement for one another throughout the wet conditions.
It was wonderful to see students challenging themselves, celebrating personal achievements and proudly supporting their peers.
A huge thank you to our Mr Marais who worked so hard make the day run so smoothly. The weather once again challenged us but Mr Marais found a way to ensure our students still had the opportunity to participate and compete.
Congratulations to all of our students for modelling the Tally Way and making the day such a positive and memorable event. We look forward to seeing our age champions and qualifying students represent our school at the upcoming district athletics carnival.
