Exploring the Magic of Narratives

This term, our Year 2 students have been exploring the world of narratives and discovering how authors use story elements to engage their readers. Students have focused on how authors develop characters by identifying character traits. They have explored what characters look like, say and do, as well as their thoughts and feelings, to build a deeper understanding of the characters within a story.

In the images below, students have showcased their understanding of character traits by identifying the characteristics of Thelma the Unicorn and Gangsta Granny. Throughout the unit, students will plan and develop their own stories by applying their knowledge of narrative structure and experimenting with ways to create interesting characters and engaging events.
