Principal's Message

It’s hard to believe that we are coming to the end of Week 4, Term 3. It has been wonderful to continue getting to know our students, staff and families over the past two weeks. It has been great to have had the opportunity to spend more time in classrooms across both campuses and I have continued to have been impressed by the positive culture of learning that exists throughout our school.

Students have settled beautifully into the term and are demonstrating a strong commitment to their learning and our REACH values. Classrooms are calm, purposeful and engaging, and it has been fantastic to see students working collaboratively whilst striving to do their best. The positive relationships between students and staff continue to be evident in every part of the school.

A key focus across the school this term has been Structured Literacy. Our teachers have been working hard to implement evidence-based literacy practices and are continuing to strengthen their teaching through the Department of Education’s Victorian Teaching and Learning Model 2.0 (VTLM 2.0). It has been exciting to see the elements of the model being embedded across classrooms, with teachers using explicit teaching, regular feedback and purposeful student engagement to support learning growth for all students.

We have also had a number of students represent our school at the District Athletics Carnival. We are incredibly proud of the way these students competed, demonstrated perseverance and displayed outstanding sportsmanship throughout the day. They represented our school community exceptionally well and should be congratulated on their efforts and achievements.

Another highlight for me has been spending time with our Class Captains and Junior School Council representatives. It has been fantastic to sit down with these student leaders and hear their thoughts about how the school is going. Their passion for the school, thoughtful ideas and commitment to supporting their peers has been impressive. Student voice plays an important role in shaping our school, and I look forward to continuing these conversations throughout the year.

One of the most exciting additions to our school in the past two weeks has been the new junior playground. During recess and lunch breaks it has been wonderful to see children exploring, climbing, creating games and enjoying opportunities to play together. 

School concert preparations are well and truly under way, with all classes excitedly practicing their choreography, stage blocking and stage cues.  I am really excited to see the performances on the night and celebrate the creativity and artistic flair of our students.  Staff rehearsal is also full steam ahead at the moment with some very tricky steps being mastered by all!
