Athletics Carnival

We tried to prove the weather forecasters wrong however the day turned out worse than we hoped. Unfortunately we have had to postpone our carnival until Wednesday the 23rd July (Wednesday Week 1).

Polding Touch Football

Congratulations to Maggie Doust, Rosemary Wright, Peyton McBain and Brooke Graham who participated in the Polding Touch Football Trials in Port Macquarie, yesterday, Thursday 3rd July.

These girls had a fantastic experience despite playing in a team who have never played together before. Thanks to their parents for taking these children to Port Macquarie so that they can be part of this level of competition.

Toni Palmer Memorial Shield (Rugby League)

Last Wednesday the 25th June, League students in Years 3 to 6 competed at the Toni Palmer Memorial Shield in Inverell. Congratulations to the Opens Boys (Stage 3 students) who were victorious on the day winning the shield! We are extremely proud of all our students who attended the day. Thank you to Katie McMeniman, Casey Chard and Karen Fletcher who assisted our students on the day. They gave glowing reports of our students. Also, thank you to Geneveive Barratt, Jennie Dodds and Jess Newberry who helped in various ways at the carnival.

Students who attended: Sam Barratt, Jimmy Chard, Kyle Cavanaugh, Angus Falconer, Charlie Schalk, Sam Pope, Kash McPhillips, Jett Mitchell, Alec Newberry, Strauss Dodds, Clayton Cooper, Roy Watson and Nash Smyth.

A full report from the students can be viewed below.

On the 25th of June, our school football teams went over to Inverell to play a great day of football. We caught the bus over to the Inverell football ground. With low expectations thinking we were not going to succeed in the Tony Palmer Cup. The stage two boys said that they had a great day and experience, and that they would do it again with a smile on their face.

St Joseph's Weapons were going great but the down side was that we could only play with 12 players and all of the other teams could play with 13 players. We just pulled through making the semi finals and we won that by 1 try. So now we had made it into the finals, the toughest game of all. We were versus an Inverell team named holy trinity. They had scored the fisted try but we weren't going to let that get us so the next 2 tries were from us.

This was a great feeling we had won the comp. The weapons had won the grand final. The people that helped us win were, Jimmy(me), Sam.B, Sam.P, Kyle, Charlie, Kash, Angus and we had 2 boys from Guyra and 3 boys from Barraba that had helped us win. We had a great time at the football and we are all very thankful for the opportunity to go to the football. I would like to say a quick thank you to the parents and teachers that helped this happen. This couldn't have happened if we didn't have these people. So thank you and go The Weapons!

Jay Stone - Athletics Sessions

We would like to extend our thanks to Jay Stone for all his expert coaching over the past 4 weeks in Athletics. His knowledge and skills has given our students a valuable boost in learning the correct techniques for the various athletics events.
