PE & Sports Update

Motor Skill Development

Ever wondered how we decide what to do in PE.

Apart from trying to create a safe and fun environment and a world where kids are encouraged to be active and try different sports and games with lots of different skills. Part of the plan is to develop Fundamental Motor Skills in a structured and organised manner whilst also introducing game sense and teamwork.

The following is an overview of recognised skill development that guides our Scope and Sequence particular through Foundation to Level 4. From Foundation to Level 2 there are lots of different opportunities to practice and enjoy these skills and lots of rotations that incorporate the skills in different settings. In Level 3 & 4, we introduce filming of students so they can watch themselves and create their own goals to work towards achieving the success criteria.

Obviously each child is different and some will struggle with certain skills while others may start late but develop quickly. Each child is different but each child can progress and feel they are succeeding along the way.

The following is a very simple guide with 3 or 4 key tips for each of the skills above.
