Buongiorno a tutti!
The students are picking up new language skills very quickly. While it can be difficult to encourage them to speak Italian outside the classroom, they are building a strong foundation and becoming more confident every week.
Prep students have been practising Signorina Cardamone's "Fast Four" questions and can now count to 10 in Italian.
Grade 1 students have been learning grande (big) and piccolo (small). Next, they will begin exploring the story of Pinocchio.
Grade 2 students are learning about the Italian word for "the" and how it changes depending on the noun. They are also learning the names of common classroom items such as pencils, chairs and desks.
Grade 3 students have been focusing on the days of the week and have discovered that the Italian names for Monday to Friday come from planets. Lots of fun has been had singing That's Amore in class. Check out 3P here having a singalong with their "microphones". 😂
Grade 4 students are learning the days of the week and using mi piace and non mi piace to talk about their likes and dislikes.
Grades 5 and 6 have enthusiastically begun the Avanti program and are already working through Chapter 2. They are learning the verb "to be" and can now use expressions such as "I am", "you are" and "he/she is" in Italian.
