Principal's Report
We, at Miners Rest Primary School, would like to acknowledge the Wadawurrung people of the Kulin Nation.
We pay our respects and thank the Wadawurrung people. May we share your land. We promise to look after it, as well as the animals and people too.
We want our Parents and Carers to tell us what they think!
Our school is conducting the annual Parent / Carer Opinion Survey offered by the Department of Education and is seeking your feedback. The survey is designed to assist schools in gaining an understanding of families’ perceptions of school climate, student behaviour, and student engagement. The survey is optional, but we encourage and appreciate your participation.
All families have received the link and PIN to the survey via email.
We will use the survey results to assist in identifying areas for improvement and professional development needs in the school, to target school planning and improvement strategies.
Take the time to have your say and influence school improvement within this responsive forum.
The Parent / Carer Opinion Survey will be open online from Monday 17 August to Friday 18 September 2026.
All families are invited to participate in the survey.
The survey will be conducted online, only takes 20 minutes to complete, and can be accessed at any convenient time on desktop computers, laptops, tablets or smartphones.
The online survey will be available in English and 10 other languages including Arabic, Greek, Hakha Chin, Hindi, Japanese, Punjabi, Simplified Chinese, Somali, Turkish, and Vietnamese. Resources are also available in additional languages to assist parents / carers who speak a language other than English at home. Please reach out to your child’s teacher, or the school directly for survey guides in your language.

School Council Community Meeting
The Miners Rest Primary School School Council Community Meeting is being held on Monday September 7 at 7:00 pm.
This is an open meeting held at our school for any members of our school community to attend. At this meeting we will be reporting on our progress, and recognition of our school within the Central Highlands Region Network for our implementation of the Victorian Teaching & Learning Model 2.0. We will report on our pleasing achievements in NAPLAN and will also share the 2025 Annual Report. We look forward to welcoming any interested parents/caregivers/guardians to this important meeting.
Book Week Celebrations
Our families and friends are invited to join us throughout the day this Friday to celebrate Book Week. Our Book Week Parade will be held at 9:15 am on Friday morning - come along and join in the fun!
Classooms will be open for families in the last hour of the day to share our learning as we conclude a busy and enjoyable day of a Symphony of Stories.
Please note, due to Book Week celebrations our Assembly, scheduled for Friday August 28, will be cancelled to accommodate the Parade and Open Afternoon.
Multicultural Diversity and Inclusion
At Miners Rest K-6, we value the diversity of culture, ethnicity, and faith of all our students. We are proud of our diversity, and everyone is welcome at our school.
Celebrating the diversity of our community makes us stronger, kinder and more innovative. We are committed to making sure that students from all backgrounds feel accepted, supported and able to learn.
We teach all students according to our school values and teach the respectful relationships framework. This includes education around diversity and inclusion.
To achieve our values and aims, everyone at our kindergarten and school plays an important role.
This week, we have reminded students of our values of Courage, Kindness and Respect and the importance of using these in everything we do.
To help us make Miners Rest K-6 a place where everyone feels welcome, respected and supported, we encourage you to also speak to your child about these values, as well as the importance of:
- understanding that we celebrate diversity and multicultural inclusion
- understanding the importance of everyone at school being treated with respect.

Student Led Conferences
Bookings will be open for families to lock in a time to celebrate learning and hear about the learning goals and achievements of our students in Term Three.
Keep an eye out for the announcemnt of bookings being available.
Please note:
Student Led Conferences will be held between 12:00 pm and 7:00 pm on Wednesday September 16. Students are only required to attend their conference on this day.
If you wish to discuss a matter/concern/information about your child with their teacher, you are most welcome to book an alternative appointment or request a phone call to do so.

It's hard to believe that it is that time of year again - September!
Our Sun Safety Policy states that a broad-brimmed hat needs to be worn during outdoor play and activities from September 1 until April 30. Please ensure that your child/ren come to school as of next Tuesday with a hat to avoid "No Hat, No Play".
