Write a Book in a Day – Friday 16th August

Write a book in a day is only 3 weeks away.  Our students are getting very excited and some have already done a great job fundraising.  We have 71 students from Years 7 to 11 registered to participate this year.  They will be working in teams of 6 to 10 from 8am to 8pm creating 3500 – 5000-word stories.

On Monday they worked in teams to practice doing a story plan using previous years parameters.  Some of the students, who had never participated before, were surprised by how difficult they found it – it certainly makes them have to use their imagination to combine odd characters, issues and settings.  They are excited to see what the full day brings.

As the event is a fundraiser for the Kids Cancer Project, we are looking for sponsorship to subsidize the costs of the fruit and veggie platters we provide to each team.  This will enable more of the students’ participation fees to go towards fundraising.  If you have any contacts, please reach out to us.
