Book Fair Coming Soon to Ironside

The Book Fair is returning to Ironside this term! This year, we are excited to partner with Where The Wild Things Are, a local independent bookstore. Every purchase helps our school library. The library will receive 20% of all Book Fair sales as credit to purchase new books for students to enjoy.

What's Different This Year?

A carefully selected range of books

We have worked with the bookseller at Where The Wild Things Are to offer a range of high-quality Australian children's titles.

Online order delivery

All online orders will be delivered to the school after the fair closes online.

Extended library opening hours

We are trialling additional opening times so parents and caregivers can browse the Book Fair without students present:

  • 8:50am-9:00am
  • From 2:40pm (Wed-Tue)

We look forward to welcoming families to the library and helping students discover their next great read.

Around the library: Year 5 Book Tasting Cafe

Year 5 students are exploring the importance of wide reading by immersing themselves in a variety of genres. During a Book Tasting Café experience, students moved between selected books, sampling stories from a range of genres.

As they "taste" each book, students are learning to identify genre characteristics, make connections between texts, and reflect on their reading preferences. By exploring a broad range of books, students are developing their ability to choose texts independently and discovering new authors, series and genres they may not have considered before.

The library has been buzzing with thoughtful discussion as students share recommendations and many finding their next great read outside their usual choices. We look forward to seeing where their reading journeys take them next!
