✨ Welcome to Week 6! We are proud of the fantastic learning happening across all classrooms. Thank you to families for your ongoing support and encouragement.

It was great to see so many families attending the Student Support Group (SSG) meetings last week. We hope that these were a valuable opportunity to meet with your child's teacher and discuss their progress during the first semester of this year.

If you haven't yet had an SSG, its not too late. Please contact your child's teacher to make a time.

At the end of term 2, you will receive your child's mid year report via Compass. Teachers will then write an Individual Education Plan for semester 2.

🍎 Healthy Reminder

Please remember to send with your child each day:

  • Water bottle/ drinks
  • Healthy snacks
  • Coats or jackets for cold/ wet days.

Please also remember to keep your child home if they are unwell and displaying symptoms of illness. Thank you for your support in helping to keep all members of our school community safe and well.

🚨 Emergency Drill Notice

Next week, on Thursday (weather permitting)  students and staff will participate in an on site evacuation. Our assembly point for this is the basketball court in the secondary playground.

These practice drills are an important part of keeping our school community safe and prepared.  Each classroom has a social story which explains what happens in case of an emergency. Classroom teachers will be reading these in preparation for this upcoming drill to support our students to know what to expect.

🛡️ Child Safety Standards

Our school is committed to providing a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for all students. We actively follow the Child Safety Standards to ensure the wellbeing and protection of every child in our care.

These standards guide how we:

  • 🤝 Promote child safety and wellbeing
  • 🗣️ Encourage student voice and participation
  • 👩‍🏫 Induct and train staff and volunteers in child safety practices
  • 📋 Maintain clear policies and reporting procedures

Next week at our whole staff meeting, staff will participate in a refresher training about the implementation of the Child Safety Standards at Croydon SDS.

In term 2 , we will undertake a Minimum Standards (including Child Safety Standards) Compliance Assessment to ensure that all policies and procedures required for school registration are in place and being implemented effectively at Croydon SDS.

The policies related to the Child Safety Standards at Croydon SDS are available for you to read on our school website under the tab Community/ School Documents. They are also available on Compass under School Documents.

We encourage families to work with us in creating a culture where every child feels safe, respected, and valued. Please contact Christine or Judith if you have any questions about the Child Safety Standards at Croydon SDS.
