Pentecost

The Feast of Pentecost is celebrated this weekend. It is recognised as the church’s birthday.

Pentecost celebrates the coming of the Holy Spirit – the force that turned the followers of Jesus into church. The disciples were filled with the gifts of the Holy Spirit- fortitude, wisdom, understanding, knowledge, piety, counsel and fear of the Lord. This weekend our Year 6 students will make the commitment to the preparation for the Sacrament of Confirmation.

National Reconciliation Week

Next week, we celebrate National Reconciliation Week. National Reconciliation Week (NRW) is a time for all Australians to learn about our shared histories, cultures, and achievements, and to explore how each of us can contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia.

The dates for NRW remain the same each year; 27 May to 3 June. These dates commemorate two significant milestones in the reconciliation journey – the successful 1967 referendum, and the High Court Mabo decision respectively. It is preceded by the commemoration of National Sorry day on 26th May

The National Reconciliation Week (NRW) 2026 theme, All In, is a call for all Australians to commit wholeheartedly to reconciliation every single day. The theme reminds us that reconciliation requires active participation from everyone – it is not a spectator sport. It calls on all of us to step away from the sidelines and take responsibility for meaningful action.

We will celebrate this significant milestone together as a whole school through prayer on Tuesday 26th May, at our 2.15 pm assembly and through a hub activity on Friday.
