Principal's Report

Mrs Larissa Vesdrevanis

First and foremost, I am absolutely thrilled to have secured the substantive principal position at our fabulous school. I want to express my gratitude to all the parents and students and teachers for your congratulations and best wishes! Leading Donvale this year has been an incredible privilege, and I am filled with excitement as we embark on writing the next chapter together in Donvale Primary School's history.

Well done to the 5/6 students who had a wonderful time at Waratah Bay Camp. Firstly, a huge thank you to Sarah, Michael H, Michael R, Wendy, Lilli, Sarah R, Natalie Brown and Michelle for your outstanding care and work on 5/6 Camp. Waratah Bay looked amazing! Michael H you did a magnificent job with the newsfeeds to parents. Camp is a huge undertaking and I thank you all for your dedication and effort.

Pizza Party with Mrs Vesdrevanis

Congratulations to the students who won a Pizza Party with the Principal as part the Colour Fun Run fundraising.  We had a lovely lunch together in the staff room complete with plates, Christmas napkins and teacher mugs filled with water.

End of year celebrations and activities

Parents, please stay tuned to communication from the school regarding our end of year celebrations and activities. There are a few things still happening over the next few weeks with Swimming, Carols, Grade 6 Graduation and our last assembly of the year and we want to make sure that you have all the information.

Heatherwood Special School & Bunnings initiative

On Thursday, I had the honour of being invited to a presentation ceremony at Bunnings Doncaster, where I received a fully assembled 6 burner BBQ on behalf of our school. What a lovely surprise!  A group of talented year 9 students from Heatherwood Special School had been diligently working with Bunnings over the past few weeks, assembling BBQs and bookshelves. These remarkable students then had the opportunity to nominate who they would like to donate the assembled items to, and we were incredibly fortunate to be chosen as the recipients! Following the official ceremony, I had the pleasure of engaging in wonderful conversations with these students. We discussed their work with Bunnings and  their interests.  I would like to extend a big thank you to Heatherwood for their generous gift to our school.

Pierre Maizy Letter to Nicole Werne

Well done to Pierre Maizy who wrote to Nicole Werner Member for Warrandyte seeking support from her office with DPS fundraising. Pierre has used his initiative and persuasive writing skills to have his voice heard and to have influence.  Please see the letter I received from Nicole below along with Pierre’s letter.

Dear Larissa,

I hope this email finds you well.

I thought I would let you know that I have received and written back to a lovely letter we received from one of your students, Pierre Maizy and I have attached a copy here for you.

I would imagine Pierre will receive the letter in the post in the next 7 days.

I have informed Pierre I will offer a chocolate hamper to you for fundraising purposes, I hope that is ok!

Is there someone who would be able to collect it from my office during business hours? Pierre’s family is also most welcome to collect it. Alternatively, we could look to drop it off to the school. I have included my office manager, Diti here to tee that up with your office.

Kind regards,
