Performing Arts Shine in Term 4

Term 4 began with a burst of energy in the Performing Arts, starting with an Instrumental Showcase featuring 27 performances and running for just over two hours. This was followed by two external performance exams — VET Music on Thursday and VCE Drama on Friday.

🎶 Instrumental Showcase Friends and family were treated to an evening of music from beginners through to our VET Music students. The program spanned a wide range of genres, beginning with smooth jazz improvisations from the Jazz Ensemble and Peter N, and continuing through to covers of Red Hot Chili Peppers, Gracie Abrams, Joni Mitchell, and Evermore. The evening concluded with Year 7 student Cooper W — a Performing Arts Scholarship winner — charming the audience with a beautiful rendition of Ed Sheeran's Afterglow, followed by crooner Ash J singing Put Your Head on My Shoulder. A heartfelt thank you to our Instrumental Music teachers — Gordon Graham, Cassandra Ivin, John Lacorcia, Ava Marshall, and Kitty Skeen — for their expertise and dedication to their students.

🎤 VET Music External Performance Congratulations to Jupiter K and Toby H for their VET Music external performance on Thursday in Ivanhoe. Worth 50% of their overall score, they performed a 30-minute set for assessors. Special thanks to Mikayla A, Elias R, and Tom F for lending their talents to the duo. Microchipped’s set list included songs by Muse, The Last Dinner Party, Amy Winehouse, Evermore, and Chappell Roan.

🎭 VCE Drama Solos Finally, congratulations to our VCE Drama cohort who performed their seven-minute self-devised solos for assessors in Footscray. Their monologues explored the theme of reputation, drawing inspiration from politics, social media, mythology, literature, film, and television.
