Welcome to our final newsletter of Term 1. As it always seems to, the term has gone quickly, and I have been pleased to see the progress of all students across this period. Many of you would have already had the chance to meet with your child/ren’s teacher/s at our twice-yearly parent-teacher interviews, with these concluding next Tuesday. This is a great opportunity for two-way sharing of progress, achievements and areas for growth, and I thank everyone for their involvement in this activity.

We will soon farewell Celeste Oosthuizen, as her and her husband Ryan prepare for their first child. Celeste is a brilliant teacher and highly respected member of our teaching team and will be missed dearly by her students and peers alike. We wish Celeste and Ryan all the very best at this exciting time and we look forward to a visit from the new baby later in Term 2!

Earlier this week, we communicated with Celeste’s class that Nicholas Toohey was the successful applicant to her classroom teaching position. We warmly welcome Nick to our school and look forward to his contributions to the team.

School staff across Victoria participated in stop work action earlier this week. I would like to sincerely thank our staff, families and students for their collaboration, clear communication and support in the lead up to this and on the day. The school was able to remain open to ensure students of critical service workers and those in special circumstances were catered for, whilst most staff were offsite supporting the action. Again, thank you to all for your kindness, consideration and support.

Our community continue to support our school in great numbers. Both our Parents’ Association and School Council provide great opportunities to contribute to the school, and both groups are ‘up and running’ for another wonderful year of service to the school.

We recently held a highly successful Parents’ Association AGM, with the wonderful Melinda Reid returning as President of the PA for a second year. We had an excellent turnout to the AGM, and this was followed-up with an equally-well attended meeting last Friday morning. Our events calendar is complete with leads for each event, and we are excited to be bringing you and your children a range of fundraising and friend-raising activities across the year.

Our new School Council will meet for the first time next week and again we see a nice blend of new members joining the established group who have contributed so positively to the school across the past couple of years. At our first meeting we elect office bearing positions, and I look forward to sharing those with you in our next newsletter.

Please remember that next week is the final week of term, with the last day being Thursday 2nd April. We conclude the term with an assembly at 2:00pm and an early dismissal time for all students of 2:30pm. Many families at our school will have begun Pesach (Passover) celebrations from the evening of Wednesday 1st April, and many will also observe Easter celebrations from Friday 3rd April onwards. No matter how you celebrate and commemorate across this period, cherish the opportunity to enjoy the company of family and friends, and I wish all a safe and happy school holiday period.

Thanks for your ongoing support and keep doing your best.
