Together We Grow, Together We Glow!
At Weeden Heights Primary School, we are incredibly fortunate to be part of a caring and supportive community. One way we put this into action is through our Caring Casseroles Program.
Â
The idea is simple: families prepare and donate a meal that can be provided to another school family experiencing challenging life circumstances. Whether a family is dealing with illness, grief, the arrival of a new baby, recovery from surgery, or another difficult period, a home-cooked meal can offer comfort and practical support when it is needed most.
Â
As we head into the school holidays, this could be a fun activity to do with your children. Cooking together provides a great opportunity to spend quality time as a family, while teaching valuable lessons about empathy, kindness, and helping others. Children learn that even small acts of generosity can make a significant difference in someone's day.
Â
Many of us can remember a time when someone offered support or a thoughtful gesture during a difficult period in our lives, reminding us we were not alone. If you have ever been on the receiving end of such kindness, this may be a wonderful opportunity to pay it forward and support another family in our community.
Â
Family-friendly dishes such as casseroles, pasta bakes, soups, curries, and lasagnes are always appreciated. Please label the meal with the ingredients and cooking instructions. Meals can be prepared and frozen during the holidays, ready to be given to the school when we start term 3. Meals can be given at reception or to Marika Smith.
Â
The Caring Casseroles Program is a beautiful example of what makes our school community special. Thank you to the families who have already contributed and to those who may be considering joining this initiative. Together, we can continue to show that kindness, care, and community matter.
