Williamstown Campus  News

Dear Williamstown Families,

As we come to the end of Term 2, I would like to thank our students and families for their ongoing commitment to and support of the college. Throughout the term, we have maintained a strong focus on building positive relationships, and we are seeing the benefits of this through the respectful and productive interactions that occur every day between students and staff.

We know that the foundations of respect, responsibility and kindness begin at home, and we sincerely thank our families for the role they play in supporting these values. Working together, we continue to create a positive learning environment where students can thrive.

Year 7 Camp

Last week, our Year 7 students attended camp at Kangaroobie. While the chilly weather is always a topic of conversation, the camp is well suited to this time of year, with a large fireplace providing a warm and welcoming place for students to gather and relax in the evenings.

Feedback from both students and staff has been overwhelmingly positive. By the time the buses returned on Friday, many students looked thoroughly exhausted after a busy and rewarding week. I would like to acknowledge and thank the staff who attended camp for giving up time with their own families and for their commitment to building positive relationships with our students outside the classroom.

Year 9 Examinations

This year, we moved to conducting Year 9 examinations collectively in our new STEM Centre. This was a positive change and allowed us to more closely replicate senior school examination conditions.

Our students should be commended for the way they approached the examination period. Their behaviour, maturity and effort throughout the process were exceptional, with many students demonstrating a genuine commitment to showcasing their learning and achievement from the semester.

Year 9 Paisley Day and Information Evening

Thank you to the many families who attended the Year 9 into 10 Information Evening. Students are now actively considering their subject selections and future pathways, supported by the Year 9 Paisley Day held last week.

We encourage families to continue discussing possible pathways with their child and to contact the Year Level Coordinator or Careers Team if further guidance is required. Later in the year, I will organise a parent tour of the Paisley Campus to help families better understand the opportunities available to students in Years 10–12.

Ramp Rectification Works

There are currently significant accessibility improvement works taking place across the Williamstown Campus, with approximately 30 ramps requiring upgrades to meet current standards.

While the majority of this work will occur during the school holidays, some works have already commenced and others will continue into Term 3. We will work closely with contractors to minimise disruption to learning and ensure the campus remains safe and accessible throughout the project.

Year 9 City Experience

The Year 9 City Experience will take place during Weeks 2 and 3 of Term 3. Families will have received consent and payment information through Compass.

This program is a highly engaging and valuable component of the Year 9 curriculum, providing students with opportunities to develop independence, explore future career pathways and engage with the wider community. We encourage all students to participate fully and ask families to support their involvement. If you require assistance or have concerns regarding participation, please do not hesitate to contact the college.

Anjo Visit

We are excited to welcome students and staff from our sister school, Anjo Higashi High School, during Week 3 of Term 3.

Their visit will begin with a welcome assembly before they join classes and participate in a range of cultural and educational experiences across Melbourne, including visits to the Queen Victoria Market and Werribee Open Range Zoo.

We thank the families who have generously volunteered to host students and look forward to strengthening the long-standing relationship between our two schools.
