5/6LP’s Learning Highlights

In 5/6LP, we cannot believe we are halfway through the term. Our students have been engaging enthusiastically across a range of learning areas.

In Mathematics, our class have been exploring 3D objects through hands-on investigations of nets and cross-sections. They have been challenged to visualise how shapes create nets and then fold into 3D objects. While also investigating how slicing different 3D objects creates a variety of cross-sections. These engaging activities have encouraged our students to think critically, problem-solve and apply their spatial reasoning skills in creative ways.

We have also commenced our Respectful Relationships lessons focused on Emotional Literacy. These lessons have encouraged our students to develop a deeper understanding of emotions and how they influence thoughts, behaviours and relationships. Through class discussions, reflective activities and collaborative tasks, our class are learning to identify and express their own emotions, recognise emotions in others and develop strategies to build resilience, empathy and positive social connections.

In Religious Education, our students have begun delving into the principles of Catholic Social Teaching. They are exploring important values such as human dignity, justice, compassion, and care for others, while reflecting on how these teachings guide us to make positive contributions to our local and global communities.

We are incredibly proud of the enthusiasm and curiosity our Year 5/6 students have shown so far and look forward to continuing this exciting learning journey throughout the rest of the term.
