Principal's Message

A Prayer for Reconciliation

Creator God,

Guide our hearts during National Reconciliation Week and every day.

Help us to reflect honestly on our shared past,

listen deeply to the voices and wisdom of First Nations peoples,

and act with courage to build a future of justice and equality.

Bless our school and our families

as we walk together in respect, healing, and peace.

Amen.

National Reconciliation Week

Dear Families,

Every year from 27 May to 3 June, our nation observes National Reconciliation Week. It is a dedicated time for all Australians to reflect, listen, and act as we look toward a more just, equitable, and reconciled future.

While reconciliation is a journey for our entire country, the classroom—and the home—are the perfect places to begin those vital conversations. At our school, we believe that education is the bridge to empathy, truth, and meaningful change. The lessons our students learn within these four walls don't stop at the school gates; they ripple out into living rooms, backyard play, and family dinner table discussions. By teaching our young people to deeply respect and celebrate the rich history, culture, and achievements of First Nations peoples, we are shaping a generation that leads with kindness and understanding.

Reconciliation isn’t just a topic for one week of the year; it is an ongoing commitment. Here is how we can bring these values to life together:

  • Reflect: We are weaving First Nations histories into our learning. At home, you can reflect with your child on the history of the traditional Custodians of the local land you live and play on.
  • Listen: We are amplifying First Nations voices through indigenous-authored books and art. At home, you can seek out these incredible stories at your local library or through family-friendly media.
  • Act: True reconciliation demands action. We encourage students to champion fairness every day, and invite you to support this by having open family conversations about equality and cultural respect.

Our goal is to embed these values into our school culture year-round; from Acknowledgements of Country to exploring Indigenous science and history. Thank you for partnering with us to raise thoughtful, compassionate, and informed young people.

Regards

Brian Martin
