Week 6 Learning
We are now at the end of week 6, Term 4, meaning we are past the half way mark of term. This week teachers were working together, focusing on moderating student writing samples in preparation for end of year reports. I was part of the junior team and it was exciting (and entertaining) to read some of the samples from 1/2A and I was blown away by some of the vocabulary being used as well as the development of key language structures including the use of adjectives, compound sentences and various forms of punctuation.
Also having the opportunity to complete some more Mathematics Online Interviews with our Year 1 students allowed me to recognise and celebrate student growth in understanding, particularly in the area of number. The students were so confident in completing the tasks and sharing their knowledge and skills.
Please encourage your children to share what they are currently doing at school - not only is it entertaining but it also helps them to reinforce and extend their understanding by having to explain their learning (both skills and knowledge) to others.
2026 Foundation Information Session
Our Wednesday morning transition session this week was again very well attended with 22 children taking part. It is so rewarding seeing how these students are already developing school routines and demonstrating a passion for learning.
While the session was happening we also held an information session for parents to explain how to prepare their children for the transition to school next year. This included how to assist with developing independence as well as supporting their children in learning how to look after their belongings.
We also hade Allison from Spartan School World present uniform options and purchasing procedures, including free home delivery for the first purchase and ongoing free delivery to school. James from TheirCare also presented information regarding our before and after school care program, including times available and booking procedures to provide options for families. An information pack was distributed to all families in attendance - if further information is required please contact the school.
Have a great weekend.
