Art Academy students have represented Surf Coast Secondary College at the 2026 Surf Coast Arts Trail by running their own stall at Ashmore Arts.

The event was held on the 1st and 2nd of August and saw hundreds of visitors attending the venue. In preparation for this event, Art Academy students worked with local artist Emily Wright to design and produce lino printed cards and with their Art Academy teacher to produce etchings of local flora and fauna.

Students volunteered their weekend to help run the stall in shifts, spending time explaining their project to the visitors and selling many of their works. Across the days students raised over $500. They will now donate their funds to a local wildlife charity of their own choice.

A huge congratulations to all involved and a big thank you to Stuart at Ashmore Arts for hosting us, and everyone who came by at the weekend to support!

Our Year 7 assembly was one to celebrate the amazing success of so many students.

Our captains did a great job leading the assembly, and the academic awards were given to students for achieving excellence throughout semester 1.

We commend the Year 7 cohort on their hard work and encourage them to maintain their high standards.

Our Year 11 assembly was a wonderful celebration of resilience, outstanding learning behaviours and academic excellence.

Ms Wyatt gave an emotional farewell as she prepares to take leave. It was clear just how special this cohort is to her, and the impact she has had on these students will undoubtedly be felt for many years to come.

A beautiful reminder that the relationships we build along the way are just as important as the achievements we celebrate.

The Year 8 girls had an incredible day at the Geelong Year 8 Girls Basketball competition.

The girls went undefeated, winning every game throughout the day, including a glorious victory over tournament favourites, Western Heights, in the grand final!

They were raining down threes, grabbing rebounds, making great passes and hitting some incredible shots when it mattered most!

While the individual skills were fantastic, it was their teamwork, communication, and support for one another that really stood out. They played with confidence, worked hard for each other and showed excellent sportsmanship throughout the day.

A fantastic team effort that saw the girls take out the Geelong competition champions! Yeah the girls!

Senior Boys Basketball

The senior boys basketball team went down fighting in a nail-biting one point semi final loss to Belmont High, after a dominant run through pool games at inter-school sport earlier this term.

The boys played team-first basketball and easily accounted for North Geelong and Lara in the pool games. Facing a high quality opponent in the semi final, Surf Coast came up just short, losing 25-26.

While bitterly disappointed with the result, the boys demonstrated high quality sportsmanship, maturity and teamwork, representing the college with pride.
