Last week, eight Year 4 students participated in the ‘Maths Minds’ Challenge Series at Mentone Girls’ Grammar, where they engaged in problem-solving activities alongside students from other schools, supported by the staff and students of Mentone Girls’ Grammar.

This program, designed for middle school students, aimed to build curiosity, confidence and foster a love of learning through challenges in Mathematics. Each participant had the opportunity to explore her strengths and discover new possibilities. They were supported by strong role models as they were encouraged to think deeply, take risks in their learning and see themselves as capable problem solvers. 

The Maths Minds experience was designed to build confidence and curiosity in young girls in Mathematics. These incredible girls worked collaboratively through a series of thoughtfully designed puzzles and problem-solving tasks that aimed to strengthen logical reasoning and mathematical thinking. The focus on exploration, persistence and shared success allowed each girl to work on both capability and confidence in Maths. 

St Louis sent 2 teams of girls with one team coming in 4th Place for the day! Well done to:

These lucky girls will be back at Mentone Girls Grammar on Friday the 11th September to complete another challenge series focused around STEM. Go and get 'em girls!
