Bookmark Competition Winners
Here are the library bookmarks for 2024!
A big thank you to everyone who entered this year's competition, and to those who helped us with judging. The quality of entries was so impressive - we extended it to 6 designs, but we could so easily have included another 6! The printed bookmarks arrived this week, bringing much excitement to students picking up their holiday borrowing.
Well done everyone and congratulations to the winners:
Katelyn (Year 12)
Gabby (Year 10)
Briana (Year 9)
Chloe (Year 9)
Sunshine (Year 8)
April (Year 7)
Book Club – CBCA Shadow Judging
Book Club has continued to meet monthly this term. We have focussed on the Children’s Book Council of Australia’s Book of the Year shortlist. As a Shadow Judging Panel book club are reading through the shortlist and submitting creative responses to each of the books to the CBCA. We will be discussing all of the books and selecting our favourite to vote on in August. Here are the responses to the first 2 books we have discussed, led by Katelyn and Jade.
ePlatform – Wellness Collection
During the school holidays don't forget you have 24/7 access to ebooks and audiobooks from the ePlatform through your browser or the eplatform app. Although we know most readers still enjoy their books in print the ePlatform offers some helpful additional features:
Translation and Grammar tools https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gN2SDENCBMM
Settings Wizard, and Literacy Support Tools https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YKo8Spr2yUg
Create Notes & Highlights in texts for study & revision https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BQHSe-UPyns
For the next few weeks you will also find the Wellness Collection on the ePlatform - this includes titles for support on topics such as social connections, sleep, nutrition and mental health, as well as fiction books about these issues.
Students can sign-in to the platform using their Viewbank College email address and Compass password. We can also arrange guest access for families – contact us at the library for more information.
If you have any questions or feedback we would love to hear from you!
