Science Week 2026
We were honoured to welcome back special alumni guests for our Science Week celebrations this year.
Across all three campuses, students heard firsthand how careers in science can shape our communities, and the future.
At Sydenham, Dr Diana Stojanovski (1997) from the University of Melbourne shared her journey through biochemistry and molecular biology, inspiring students to see science as a pathway to solving real‑world problems, and opportunities to travel the world. Dr Stojanovski shared her story of a single lesson in Biology, which inspired her to pursue her career in research.
At Kings Park, students heard from Professor Vasso Apostolopoulos (1987, Kings Park), a leader in immunology research, who encouraged students to be proud of their postcode, and reconnected with former Mathematics teacher, Ms Sharon Kube. We were also joined by former College Captain Chad Lazaro (2023), whose current studies in a Bachelor of Science (Immunology) are opening doors to emerging medical fields.
At Delahey, Navdeep Kaur (2013) brought real-life inspiration and resilience to share students interested in optometry studies and healthcare work, while Steven Haas (1993, Kings Park) demonstrated how his career in medical science and pharmacy can support people and healthcare innovation.
Our alumni continue to connect with the next generation of Copperfield College graduates, reminding us that starting with the smallest seed of an idea can grow into a future where anything's possible.
While the Victorian Premiers' Reading Challenge is over for the year, we're remembering when Copperfield College students were featured in the Sunday Age newspaper, being recognised for their outstanding efforts in the 2012 Honour Roll!
