Principal Message 

Kings Park Campus Term 3, September 2026

We are fast approaching the end of yet another busy term at the Kings Park Campus. Thank you to all the students and staff on campus who have been working towards our Campus goals of (a) high expectations of student learning and behaviour in the classroom and yard, (b) strong school attendance, (c) building positive and respectful relationships and (d) the use of routines and seating plans.

We had a number of events on Campus:

A large number of staff and students supported the Campus Wear It Purple Day (28th August). The Day was led by the Campus Student Wellbeing Team (Chelsea Horvat and Emma Paterson). ‘Wear it Purple Day’ is an LGBTIQA+ awareness day especially for young people. We are proud to celebrate this annual day and embrace diversity within our school community. As a College we endeavour to foster supportive, safe, empowering and inclusive environments at each of our campuses. 

This coming Thursday (10th September) is RUOK? The day encourages us all to stay connected and to have conversations about mental health.  Importantly, it’s about starting a meaningful conversation with someone you notice might be struggling with life. The national theme for 2026 is, “RU OK? Any Day.” We feel very lucky to work in a school where staying connected and asking RU OK? is already part of our everyday culture. Most students do feel very comfortable opening up and reaching out to staff and each other for help. 

Student Led Presentations were held last Thursday. They are a joyous celebration of our students’ learning journey. Students are required to prepare and present, to their families and campus staff, their goals and progress over the course of the year. Our students are very talented and they are bring a unique sense of themselves to their SLPs. They showcase their learning, their hobbies, their passions and their interests. It is not out of the ordinary to see them bringing in musical instruments, models and drawings. Thank you to all of our wonderful students who confidently presented and to all the staff who have prepared, supported and encouraged the students.

The College Production, School of Rock was a rocking success. After months of rehearsals, countless hours of hard work and so many moments behind the scenes, seeing it all come together on stage was a proud moment. A huge congratulations to our entire cast, band, backstage crew, staff and everyone who has helped bring this production to life. 

Shortly, we will be interviewing current Grade 6 students (Year 7, 2027) who applied for our 2027 Scholarship Program. We received a significant number of applications, which was pleasing. We hope to notify those who were successful by the end of this term. 

Science Week at Copperfield College brought inspiring alumni and science professionals back to share their knowledge, experiences and career journeys with our students.

Kings Park Campus welcomed Professor Vasso Apostolopoulos, Class of 1987 and Professor of Immunology, alongside Chad Lazaro, Class of 2023, who is studying a Bachelor of Science at the University of Melbourne. Professor Apostolopoulos toured the Kings Park Campus reminiscing about her school years and reflecting on how much the school has changed since she was a student.

Our students were inspired by the journeys of our alumni, who shared that challenges are a natural part of any career journey and that success is not simply about achieving a goal, but about finding enjoyment and purpose in what you do.

Buildings and Grounds: We have commenced the planning stage for the full refurbishment of the Kings Park Library, with construction to commence early 2027. This is a significant investment for the College and a much needed one for our students. 

The administration area will undergo some refurbishment commencing this week, namely the transformation of a classroom (A1) into a modernised ICT support area to better assist students and support our dedicated ICT Team, as well as the establishment of a sub-school for our student management leaders.  

Parent/Carer Opinion Survey Our school is conducting the annual Parent / Carer Opinion Survey offered by the Department of Education and is seeking your feedback. The survey is designed to assist schools in gaining an understanding of families’ perceptions of school climate, student behaviour, and student engagement. The Parent / Carer Opinion Survey will be open online to Friday 18 September 2026. https://research.orima.com/parent

Interim Reports: Teachers are currently completing Semester 2 Interim Reports, which will be released to students and families by the end of this term.

We wish all students, staff and families a safe, restful and enjoyable mid-semester break.
