TERM 1 ITALIAN OVERVIEW

Foundation students  are enjoying their introduction to the Italian language with Signor Mackay.  Through the big book story of Pinocchio, students sang songs and learnt basic greetings in Italian.

 

Year 1 and 2 students have continued consolidating their understanding of basic Italian vocabulary including greetings, numbers and colours with Signor Mackay and Signora Portaro (1AS and 1K). Through the big book story of Pinocchio, students learnt to sing songs describing body parts. 

 

Year 3 and 4 focus this term have been learning about greetings and how to introduce themselves in Italian with Signora Portaro and Signor Mackay (3R and 3J ). They used sentence starters to describe themselves. Students learnt where the Winter Olympic sports were held in Italy and were able to locate “Milano/Cortina” on a map.

Year 5/6 focus this term has been “Identity ”with Signora Portaro. Students described themselves in simple phrases. Students completed a personal profile that described their age, address, family members, personal characteristics such as colour of hair and eyes, likes and dislikes. They wrote short sentences and then verbalised these, developing correct pronunciation in Italian.
