MATHS

In Maths this term, we have been focusing on strengthening our understanding of place value and developing efficient strategies for addition, subtraction, and multiplication. Students have been learning how to break apart numbers, use mental maths strategies, and apply written methods accurately. We have also been practising how to select and employ the most effective strategy during NAPLAN-style questions, building both confidence and problem-solving skills.

READING

In Reading, we have been developing our comprehension skills through both reading and listening activities. Students have practised identifying main ideas, making inferences and answering literal and inferential questions. In Grammar, we have been learning about prefixes and suffixes, exploring how they change the meaning of base words and help us understand new vocabulary.

WRITING

In Writing, we have been using the writing process to plan, draft, edit and publish recounts. Students have focused on structuring their recounts with a clear orientation, sequence of events and conclusion. We also played an engaging outside game of Whack & Run and used the experience as a prompt to write detailed recounts, helping us practise including descriptive language and reflecting on our experiences.

HUMANITIES

In Humanities, we have been learning about community, culture and respect. Students have explored the different groups they belong to and how these groups help shape identity. We have discussed the importance of respecting different cultures, beliefs and perspectives, and how showing respect helps create inclusive and supportive communities.
