Diocesan Winter Trials (Boys Soccer)

On Friday last week, Miniong, Leo, Jacob, Augusto, and I went to UNE for Dio Soccer Trials to try to get into polding soccer that was in Bathurst. There were people from schools like Moree, Inverell, Tamworth, Gunnedah and more. The day consisted of each team playing five matches each for 15 minutes each game, and the teams were Barcelona, Newcastle, SS Lazio, AC Milan, Roma FC, and Manchester city. A total of 50-60 kids came but only 10 kids were able to be selected to go onto Polding. Everyone had a blast, people from St Mary’s met new people from different schools. Only one person made it from St Mary’s into Polding for boys soccer which was Miniong Akot. Some teams played 2-4 games in a row then after 3 games we had a break. While we were eating our lunch through the 30 minute break, they had goalkeeper trials then they played possibles vs probables each team had 8 people on their team, then after the match they’d pick one goalkeeper, eight outfield positions and 1 sub just in case someone gets injured or gets tired. We all had a great day.
