P & C News

🏫 What's the GIHS P&C Been Up To?
Glad you asked! The Parents & Citizens Association exists to connect families, staff and students — and to help make GIHS an even better place to learn, grow and have fun. Here's a snapshot of what we've been busy with this year...
🚌 Year 7 Hit the Road!
The P&C proudly covered the $3,000 bus cost for the Year 7 Coffs Harbour excursion — meaning less out of pocket for families and more smiles on faces! It sounds like the group had an absolute blast, and a huge shoutout to the Year 7 Year Advisors- Ms Honey and Mrs VanJaarveld for making it happen. (And yes — keeping it local at Coffs Harbour was something the P&C have been cheering for years. Win! 🎉)
💳 Swipe Right for the Year 12 Formal Fund!
The P&C loaned its EFTPOS machine to the Year 12 of 2026 Formal Fundraising Committee — and they have been GO, GO, GO! From Easter Raffles to Celtic Wood deliveries to the Athletics Carnival Canteen, this crew is crushing it.
👀 Keep your eyes peeled for their upcoming Krispy Kreme Donut fundraiser — trust us, you don't want to miss it! Follow their journey here 👉 Year 12 Formal Fundraising Facebook Page
🚽 Fighting the Good Fight for Better Loos
The P&C wrote to our Local MP Brendon Moylan about the state of the Gymnasium toilet facilities — and he acted within a week! A Department of Education Assets team visited the school, and conversations are well underway about making fit for purpose, and while onsite more detailed discussions were had about facility upgrades, including the junior toilets. Watch this space! 🔧
📅 Come Along — We'd Love to See You!
Next Meeting: Tuesday 2nd June, 6pm — GIHS Common Room
On the agenda: the exciting GIHS 100 Year Celebrations in 2027! 🎂 This is going to be a big one and the P&C want to help make it truly special.
All welcome — come connect with your child's school community!
