Practice-a-thon
We are excited to launch a Practice-a-thon starting this week (starting Monday 8 June) to raise funds for the RPS Band Program. Full instructions are attached.
Please set up your child’s fundraising page via justgiving.com/campaign/rpsband
If they haven’t already, your child will receive their practice log at band rehearsal this week. Please keep it in a safe place, as it will need to be signed off after each practice session and returned at the end of the Practice-a-thon.
There are some fantastic prizes on offer, and we hope this initiative will be a fun way to encourage and motivate regular practice in the lead-up to the Ryde East Music Festival.
New Band Treasurer
We are delighted to share that Tianya Chen (Caleb and Ephraim’s mum in Year 4) has been appointed as our new Band Treasurer (and second VP of the P&C). We are excited that she has volunteered to take on this role, and we look forward to working with her.
Upcoming Band Events
Be sure to add these to your calendar of major band events for Term 2 and 3.
- Sunday 28 June - Ryde East Music Festival: Ryde East Public School. Training Band, Junior Band and Concert Band will all be participating. Times will be notified as soon as they are available. Full band uniform is required. If your child will be unable to attend, please let Jacinta and the Band Committee know ASAP.
- Tuesday 4 August - Education week at RPS: All bands will be performing. Time and details to be confirmed.
- Thursday 13 August - Ryde Eisteddfod: Ryde Eastwood Leagues Club. All bands will be participating. Training Band at 9:30am, Junior Band at 10:30am and Concert Band at 11:30am. Transportation and supervision will be organised in liaison with the school. Further details to follow.
- Tuesday 25 August - Festival of the Bands: Carlingford High School 7-8.30pm. All bands will be performing.
Term 2 band invoices
Term 2 invoices are now due. If you are experiencing financial difficulty, you are encouraged to contact the Band Committee for support.
