Mr Michael Busscher, Head of Middle School
The St Patrick’s College Middle School continues to be a significant and positive experience in the lives of each of our boys. We openly acknowledge that Year 9 and 10 is a time of significant change in the lives of adolescent boys and thus a vital time when our boys’ journey into manhood. The Middle School Staff strive to provide opportunities for each young man to develop into independent and active learners through a curriculum that awakens and stimulates their intelligence, provides academic rigor, and challenges all boys to discover their best.
On this note, congratulations to Year 10 student Paddy Casey on being selected for the Melbourne University Kwong Lee Dow Young Scholars Program. The Kwong Lee Dow Young Scholars program is open to students from all Victorian and select interstate border schools, offering access to exclusive Melbourne University events and academic enrichment activities for two years. It gives you the chance to experience a taste of student life first-hand, as well as the opportunity to build strong peer networks that will support you throughout your final years of secondary school and during your transition to university.

The St Patrick’s College Middle School is committed to the notion of a year filled with positive experiences and acknowledges the importance of the changing stages of young men’s lives.
This week and next has seen the Middle School boys transition into the Senior School of 2026, as they have embarked upon their Head Start Program.
Lastly, to the Year 9 and Year 10 boys of 2025, although your time has come to an end in the Middle School don’t forget the challenges you have overcome, the knowledge you have received and the bonds that you have formed. Take them with you and continue to use them along your journey in the Senior School. Good luck, have a very Merry Christmas and all the best for 2026.
