Clare's message........

Good afternoon Families,

What fun we have had over the past two weeks. As always, there has been some wonderful learning happening as you will read about in 'Curriculum Corner'. I am always in awe of just how much our children absorb day after day, and so grateful for the rich, engaging learning opportunities our teachers provide. We are truly blessed to have the educators- both teaching and learning support staff- we do here at St Luke's.

I have had the pleasure of interviewing a number of Prep 2027 children and their parents in the past couple of weeks. The energy and excitement they bring is inspiring and there is such a sense of hope about what they are about to embark on. How fortunate are they to have the high calibre of educators who will be taking them on their primary years journey.

But- we would love to grow our numbers! Please spread the word to family and friends who are looking to place their child OR who may be looking to relocate their child to another school. We have places available in each year and are taking enrolments right now.

Our Italian Festa Day of Joy was just that- joyous in every sense of the word. The children were absolutely incredible in the way they entered into the spirit of the day, dressing up in many creative and colourful costumes. The parade at the end of the day was quite the spectacle. Thank-you to all parents who helped their child to enter into the fun and celebrations of the day. Congratulations to all of the children... you are all winners in our eyes. Most especially, thank you to Signora Phillips for organising the day. Her planning and organisation was perfetto!

Make sure you look out for the photos later in this newsletter.

Our second P&F meeting for this term was held last week. This will change for the next few meetings as the P&F will be focussing on attending the Fete meetings up to the fete in October. From this week's meeting, we all agreed to the following:

  • We need many families from each class to volunteer to help on a stall at the fete
  • We need stall co-ordinators
  • Many hands make light work- so please help
  • We need sponsors galore... so if your business or the company you work for can support our fete, let us know asap. We will provide exposure for you in return.
  • We have an ELECTION BBQ approximately six weeks after the fete.
  • Check the fete page of this edition for details.

We have a PUPIL FREE DAY coming up on Friday 19th June. The school will be closed but the staff will be on-site, engaging in professional learning about the Science of Learning with a Maths focus as well as intellectual preparation in planning.

Please make sure you check out some of the reminders around school uniform in Bits n Bobs. I am noticing many children are coming to school in shorts and shivering because they are cold. This does not make sense. Please ensure your child is dressed warmly on these colder winter days. There are a few children who do not wear long pants and genuinely do not feel the cold- but they are just a few. I do hope to see more children in long pants or winter tunics and feeling more comfortable when outside.

If you have not completed with both parents signing the PHOTOGRAPHY AND RECORDING PERMISSION FORM, look in your child's bag today for a copy to sign. We require these by Tuesday. These are important for us to know who does and does not have permission for any photography and recordings that the school may make. Please act on this immediately.

Well, l'm going to treat you to a shorter message this edition.

Have a fabulous LONG weekend, stay warm and dry and finally, Go Hawks!

Clare Ryan
