Food Drive for the St Vincent de Paul Winter Appeal
As the cold months of winter have arrived, we invite our school community to support our Term 2 Social Justice initiative by donating to the St Vincent de Paul Society’s Winter Appeal.
We invite all the students in our school to donate some food or hygiene items from the suggestions below:
Canned foods:
Soup
Tuna
Fruit
Vegetables
Baked Beans/Spaghetti
Packet foods:
Pasta and jars of pasta sauce
Small packets of rice
2 Minute Noodles
Cup a Soup
Small Boxes Cereal/Weet-Bix etc.
Biscuits: Sweet or savoury
Coffee/Tea/Hot Chocolate
Full Cream Long Life Milk
Hygiene items:
Toothpaste
Toothbrushes
Shampoo
Body Wash
Soap
Deodorant
Donation baskets will be available in each Learning Community until Friday, 19th June. The donated items will be collected by the local St. Vincent de Paul representatives, who will ensure that the food is distributed to those in need within the local community. Please check that the cans and packets of food are not past the use by date.
In supporting this appeal we are living out the Catholic Social Teaching of Preferential Option for the Poor: Caring for those who are less well off is everyone’s responsibility. Preferential care should be shown to vulnerable and marginalised people, whose needs and rights are given special attention in God’s eyes.
We thank you for support.

Lord, we come before You
with hearts full of compassion
for people in need.
Grant them hope and comfort
in times of despair.
Bless our efforts and inspire our hearts
with Your love, to respond
with generosity and empathy.
Teach us to live out the Gospel message
of love and service,
and to work together to create a world
where every person can live
with dignity and hope.
Amen.
